How often should I have my heating and air conditioning equipment serviced?

How often should Freon be added to my air conditioner?

Air conditioners are a closed system and should not require adding refrigerant. If the equipment is low on refrigerant, there may be a service-related problem or a leak in the system. Refrigerant leaks can be repaired in some cases or may require equipment replacement. Contact Cunningham Associates for repairs or service if needed.

What is SEER?

Much like MPG measures your car's fuel efficiency, Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) is a measurement of the energy efficiency of your HVAC system.  SEER is the BTU of cooling output during a typical cooling season divided by the total electric energy input watts-hours during the same period. The higher the SEER rating of a unit, the more energy efficient it is. The current minimum standard set by the federal government is 13 SEER.

What filter options are available for people with allergies?

Cunningham Associates offers indoor air quality solutions to include media filters, electronic air cleaners, HEPA filtration systems, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, fresh air options, duct cleaning and ultraviolet lights.

What do I need to know about R-22 and R-410A Refrigerants?

R-22 is commonly referred to as Freon. This refrigerant has been used for many years in air conditioners. Manufacturers stopped producing equipment that used R-22 refrigerant in 2010. R-410A has been developed as an environmentally friendly refrigerant. Most manufactures now offer this option when purchasing a new system.

What are my payment options?

Cunningham Associates accepts checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Special financing options are available from select manufacturers on new equipment installations.

What happens to my old equipment when it is replaced?

All refrigerants are recovered from the equipment and recycled. The old equipment is recycled as scrap metal.

What steps are taken to protect my floors during the installation process?

In order to protect your home, the installation technicians prepare the job with drop cloths in appropriate areas and will always use caution when working in your home. The technicians wear shoe covers inside to keep your home clean. All debris is removed at the completion of the job, and all work areas are cleaned up.
